Welcome to The Download Live. I’m your host, Shannon Henry. Today’s guest is John May, an expert in “angel” investing. May is the executive director of the Private Investors Network and co-manager of The Dinner Club and the eMedia Club, all locally-based networks of individual angel investors. The groups meet regularly, hear from technology companies who pitch their companies, and then choose which ones to fund.

As the Washington area has become home to many cashed-out technology entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals, those people are more and more looking to invest in other start-ups. And May has become the area’s chief angel networker.
